Hey, I’m Leia! I’m a Deaf Educator specializing in Listening and Spoken Language. My own chronic social awkwardness stirred my interest in language and social skills.
Since finishing grad school, I’ve needed to find a new way to let out my academic, researchy, data-driven side. This site is for the WHY and HOW questions. Why children need social and language skills, why certain skills are important, how to teach these skills, and how these skills affect a child’s functioning in the real-world like at the neighbor kid’s birthday party or on the playground.
Now that I’ve spent some time in the real world, I’m renewing my research into realistic applications for authentic language and social skill development.
So stick around and share your insights if you too care about helping children who are DHH be successful outside the therapy room.
